This year, in celebration of our PA professions 50th anniversary, Certified Medical Educators would like to honor 50 exceptional PAs for their professional accomplishments, passion, and dedication.  It is with great excitement that we spotlight Ms. Josanne K. Pagel, PA-C, DFAAPA, Karuna®RMT.

Ms. Pagel is an amazing individual who currently serves our profession in various capacities including as current AAPA President, Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in Case Western Reserve University, and Executive Director of PA Services a the Cleveland Clinic Health System. She currently volunteers with the county free clinic and has worked in various medical disciplines including CT surgery, family practice, psychiatry and addiction medicine.

Birthplace:  Cleveland, Ohio.

PA Program graduated from:  Cuyahoga Community College Surgical PA Program.

Favorite Sports Team: Cleveland Browns.

Mentors who had an influence on you: EMT Donald McNutt, Cardiac Surgeon Robert Vanbergen, MD and Cleveland Clinic Administrator Cindy Hundorfean.

Interesting fact: Ms. Pagel is studying for her doctorate in divinity and metaphysical sciences.

PA Interview Questions:

What are you most proud of from you career: “Opening the door for PAs and potential PAs to aspire to create the career they have always wanted”.

What advice would you give current PA students: “Seize every opportunity to learn something new and help create opportunities where non exist”.

Where do you see our PA profession in another 50 years:  “If we can imagine it, we can do it.  I see there will be no legislative barriers to allow us to work were we want to as PAs”.
