This year, in celebration of our PA professions 50th anniversary, Certified Medical Educators would like to honor 50 exceptional PAs for their professional accomplishments, passion, and dedication. It is with great excitement that we spotlight Pedro Gutierrez, M.D., MMS, PA-C
Dr. Gutierrez is the founding chair of the PA School at Florida International University, in addition to associate dean of the PA school and associate professor. In addition to being a passionate healthcare educator, he loves serving those in need and currently helps run four homeless clinics in the Florida. Dr. Gutierrez is a member and ECC Chair for the American Heart Association in the Southern region, he is also the Medical Director of the Miami Dade Police Department and belongs to numerous committees and organizations including FAPA, AAPA, AMA, FMA and PAEA.

What are you most proud of from you career: “I would say being able to help patients that I have treated and cared for”
What advice would you give current PA students: “Put in as many hours you can now into the books”
Where do you see our PA profession in another 50 years: “I would like to see it at a doctorate/PhD level”
